I guess this is another example of the producers of the movie falling in love with the idea of the movie, hoping that each one will get better and the series will go on. It seems in most cases that it only gets worse.
Take Anaconda. You had a great cast. Jennifer Lopez. John Voight. Eric Stoltz. Ice Cube. It wasn’t a bad movie. I would have given it 3 stars. Barely. It may have been a edge of your seat suspense movie for some people. I just thought it was gruesome.
The attraction was the giant snake and would anyone be able to kill it. Yet somehow, even though this movie seems to be on TV time and time again, I still can’t understand why they made five more Anaconda movies. All of them went straight to DVD. Some of them were on TV. David Hasselhoff stared on one of them.
It seems that we’re in for the same fate with Death Race. Again, there was a good cast. Jason Statham. Joan Allen. Natalie Martinez. The movie was done in the 70’s. Again, I would have rated it 3 stars. At least there were some memorable scenes such as the race and the warden had a giant truck try to kill off all the racers. Luckily, Statham and a driver from another car take the truck down.
Death Race 2 was supposed to be the movie that started Death Race one. Here the series starts to go downhill. This went straight to DVD and didn’t go anywhere.
Yet, we have Death Race 3, which was probably the worst of the three. Women having a fight to the death to see which ones would sit with the drivers. After that, an uneventful 3 day race where the new Frankenstein was told to throw the race so he won’t be able to leave the prison or watch his friends die.
Not as predictable and not worth watching. I hope there won’t be a Death Race 4. it can’t get any worse than the third one. One star.
