Yes, the new Steven Seagal movie to DVD is out and co-starring in this flick was Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Just to take a step back, I happened to find another junk cable station called the Military station and they were going to show the Steven Seagal movie Under Siege. The reason: navy is the military and there is a terrorist plot.
If that wasn’t enough, Lou Diamond Phillips came on to be the narrator of the movie and he even had a terrorist expert with him. How did he introduce the movie.
It’s a Segal movie where you have to check your brains at the door. And the terrorist expert said yes, along with the actors and actresses. Then both them laughed.
Not sure if Lou Diamond Phillips should be casting stones considering that he hasn’t been in a big movie since Renegades with Kiefer Sutherland. In any case, you get the feeling how seriously they take Steven Seagal.
I guess you can say the same thing about this movie. Might as well check your brain at the door. Along with the actors and actresses. Here is Steven Segal and Austin closing down a prison when two inmates arrive, both women. One of them is actually an FBI or CIA agent - I forget - operative and according to her, she can’t go into a holding cell because she is afraid she would be killed.
Next, rouge agents invade the prison when Seagal leaves, looking for the woman. This leads to a confrontation with Austin and the terrorist group. Lots of shooting, fighting, you know the drill.
At least you can say that in this movie, you actually see Steven Seagal fighting, not like in his previous movies when you only saw the other person take punches and kicks from Seagal as if he was in a video game.
Austin fares a little better He actually has a sense of humor after a woman beats him up in the movie. His response: I guess that will be my next ex-wife.
Putting that aside, I could say that on one hand, I enjoyed Under Siege and Under Siege II. I can’t say the same about Maximum Convection though. I have to wonder why Seagal is continuing to make these movies.
The ending is anti-climatic. Seagal and Austin are ducking rouge agents so they won’t be killed. This movie will join the long list of actors and actresses whose movies go straight to DVD like Cuba Gooding Jr, Dolph Lundgren, or Van Damme.
Movies like this won’t be on the big screen soon so maybe Segal should do what Van Damme did. See if he can get a part in the Expendables III as a bad guy.
My feeling is that this movie isn’t as bad as the others. It’s an improvement. As I said, the fight scenes are there but not as good as others you might see in a Chuck Norris movie. I would give it 2-1/2 stars.
