I’m not a big fan of mobster TV shows or movies. I’ve never watched The Godfather. I did watch most of the Sopranos although I lost interest in the end.
If anything, I’m always happy to try a show once and see if it’s something to keep up with. Unfortunately, I shut this show off after the first hour.
There were a lot of reasons why. Seeing Boris Walraven, the youngest son of Marta Walraven, holding a loaded gun on another child because he wanted to get his headphones back that he stole from his older brother brought the show down for me right away. To make this more unbelievable, the school covered this up so the boy could remain with his parents.
I think that if you make an unbelievable scene like that up in a show, you’re better off not doing it in the first place. By creating a scene like that in this day and age and expecting the audience to buy into it is not realistic to say the least.
The plot is some sort of mystery. Marta’s brother killed two men and stole drugs from a Russian gangster named Schiller. Marta’s husband finds out from the brother and wants out of the gang, although the son pointing a gun at another kid was another reason for this as well.
Later in the show, Marta’s husband is gunned down in front of his home in front of his youngest son, Boris. The drugs, which were in a false panel in a boat, has disappeared. Schiller tells Marta that he wants her to run a consignment, whatever that means in order to make up for the loss for the disappearance of the drugs. So somehow, the soccer mom has to take over and listen to whatever Schiller says.
Yes, if this plot seems like nonsense, that’s because it is. I realize that ABC is the network that wants to have different types of shows but all this was to me was another weak TV show which will probably be cancelled after a few episodes. I give this show 1 star.
