I guess when you have a show with Nazis and a treasure map that needs to be hunted for, then you’re going after an audience that loved the Indiana Jones movies. I wasn’t a big fan of the movies.
Maybe that’s the reason I had a tough time watching Zero Hour. Part of me said that this show was different compared to other TV shows but the plot seemed to be the same. In this case, the wife, Laila Gallistin is kidnapped by an international terrorist the White Vincent.
Why is she kidnapped? She just purchased an antique clock but inside the clock is a chip that reveals a treasure map. Laila’s husband, Hank Galliston, played by Anthony Edwards, discovers the may.
From there Edwards will have to find the treasure and his only clues are the map. In addition, Galliston’s children are off on their own trying to find out how they could get their mother back as well.
On one hand, the White Vincent seems like a chilling character for a terrorist. We see his small eyes when he removes his contacts lenses. In the beginning of the show, we see a baby with small eyes as well.
There is a lot of competition for TV shows, especially with serial killer shows. Not sure where this will fall in but I can see ABC being interested in the show since they are known as the network that will look for unique programming.
A good example of this was when ABC introduced Last Resort. I thought that show had a great concept in the beginning when the show took place on a submarine. I grew up loving the movie Run Silent, Run Deep, the only move where I watched Clark Gable. As the show moved away from the submarine scenes, I moved away from this show as well.
I haven’t watched Zero Hour since its premier. I may watch a few more episodes but it’s hard to give this show more than three stars. If there was some more tension in the show between Hank Galliston and The White Vincent, then the show would have held my interest.
