Well, the three game series is over and the best part is that we didn’t start off like we did last year. Giants take the last two games. Plenty of things to be happy about.
How about Mad Bum going 8 innings and pitching a two hitter. Striking out six. Nice way to return Kershaw’s shutout. Have to wonder if the next matchup will be Kershaw and Bum. That would be nice.
Last night was a different story. Tim Lincecum was back on the hill and it was a tough night. He was taken deep two times to the warning track. He walked 7 batters by the fifth inning. The only thing we could be happy about is that when he was in a jam, he managed to get out of it.
Somehow through all that, Bochy came out in the top of the 5th with two outs and said to Tim that he had one more batter. He should enough confidence in his pitcher like he always does that he went back to the dugout and then Lincecum got the last out. One of the reasons I like Bochy so much. He is a great manager.
After the game, Baggs reported that Rags went to Lincecum and said take the win. Doesn’t matter if it was 5 innings. Just take the win. I have to agree with that since there were many games that Tim was in where the Giants didn’t score any runs for him.
In the end, I have to say that I’m glad Bochy and Rags handled things the way they did. Can’t just beat Tim up. He’s a great pitcher and we all want him to win games like he used to. Things don’t always work out the way you want them to but it’s a long season. Anything can happen.
It could have been worse. What if Lincecum hit Uribe again. We remember what happened then and Tim didn’t mean to do it.
We finally got on the board with some homers. Panda bear had a nice blast but how about Hunter Pence. He put us up for good and we won 5-3. Pence wasn’t hitting last year when he joined the Giants but it’s nice to see that things have changed now.
So the next three games are against the St. Louis Cardinals. We get to see how Z and Vogey will do. Then Cain is back on the mound for the finale. Then the Rox are next. I think they will be a better team since there is no iron man rotation anymore but we’ll see.
