I thought that due to the weak plots on many of the TV shows, it was time to diversify and subscribe to Acorn TV which is part of Roku. This subscription for $29.99 a year will give me a wide range of British mysteries and sitcoms. Vexed is a comedy and was the first show that I had decided to watch.
The show is led by two detectives on the police force, Kate Bishop and Jack Armstrong. Matching these two up is like night and day. Kate is the serious detective who is getting an opportunity to move up while Jack Armstrong plays the part of someone that brings a lot of humor to the show.
Good example is that they’re in the middle of a case and Jack wants to finish up at 3:30 so he can buy a suit while Kate wants to get more work in the case. As Jack puts it, what’s the point in rushing to solve the case. They’ll just give us another case tomorrow. The theme of the show is that the detectives will have more luck than good detective work on their side in solving this case and others.
In the first case, Jack and Kate are in the murder victim’s home. Kate and Jack are in the livingroom and Kate is talking about where to place the furniture. Since there is blood on the floor, Jack suggests that the rug should be cleaned and Kate said that they can just put their furniture over the bloodstain to hide it. She is new to town and decides to take the apartment.
As they investigate the case further, they discover that there are two murder victims with one thing in common: both have a Honeybee credit card. This card will lead to two side stories for the detectives as well when Jack wants to get information on a women he met at the supermarket while Kate wants to get information on what her husband has been purchasing.
The show is filled with a lot of laughs, most of them by Jack Armstrong, which leads to hilarious arguments with his partner, Kate Bishop. It’s a fun show to watch and I would give it five stars.
